Welcome to the Saucy Blog! Here is where we’ll share stories, recipes and ideas for you to incorporate our products into your life. But, first: the backstory. About a year ago, Aaron & Angela Barton founded B’More Saucy as a business, but the saucy story goes way back. Aaron’s recipe for the Bayside Pepper Sauce is inspired by the household hot sauce his family used to make down by the bay. About a decade ago, he made some tweaks and perfected the sauce into what it is today. It became popular at tailgates with friends, who encouraged them to bottle it up and sell it. Angela came up with the name, and Aaron started searching for a commercial kitchen space. They eventually found the perfect option, and the business moved from the home kitchen to B-More Kitchen, just a stone’s throw away.
Bayside Pepper Sauce is our signature product. Some people think of our Bayside Pepper Sauce as a hot sauce. And that’s not wrong. This is a hot topic in our saucy world. We like being one of Baltimore’s hot sauce options. Some people think of it as a local ketchup, meets mustard, meets hot sauce-- and that’s not too far off either. So, what is it?
The idea behind our Bayside Pepper Sauce is that it becomes part of the dish, instead of overpowering the dish. The flavor is enhanced, not compromised. Bayside Pepper Sauce is made from tomatoes, peppers and over 10 unique spices. We are inspired by the Chesapeake Bay, and created a sauce to pay homage to Maryland, Baltimore and the watershed. It goes well with seafood, popcorn, chicken, cocktails, burgers, eggs, tacos, hummus, and so much more.
Over the last year, we’ve added many local accounts for you to buy our sauce throughout the Baltimore area, including: Baltimore In a Box, Hot Sauce Willies, Gunpowder Bison & Trading Co, The WIne Source, Eddie’s Mt. Vernon, Rooster + Hen, Graul’s Market Annapolis, and more. If you’re out of state, you can purchase online through our website. So, now that you understand who we are and where to find us, we have recipes for you to try:
• 1 lb chicken thighs, sliced
• 2 bell peppers, rough chopped
• 1/3 yellow onion, rough chopped
• 2 tbsp oil
• 1 cup Bayside Pepper Sauce, divided use
Sauté the peppers and onions in oil until softened. Add sliced chicken to the mixture and sauté for 5-6 minutes. Remove excess liquid if necessary. Add 1/2 cup Bayside Pepper Sauce and stir until chicken is cooked through through (another 5 minutes). When chicken is cooked thoroughly, remove from heat and stir in more. Bayside Pepper Sauce, to taste. Serve on salad, in a wrap, or with a side of mashed potatoes and green beans.
Sauce up your cocktail!
• 1.5oz is Blanco Tequila
• 1/2 oz Triple Sec
• 1/2 oz Bayside Pepper Sauce
• 1 oz grapefruit juice
Mix and shake it good over ice.
Double strain, and serve neat or
on the rocks.
Saucy Salad Dressing
• 1/2 cup Olive Oil
• 1/2 cup Raw tahini
• 1/2 cup Bragg Apple Cider Vinegar
• 1/4 cup Bragg Liquid Aminos
• Juice of 1 lemon
• 1/4 -1/2 cup Bayside Pepper Sauce (or more if you’re really Saucy!)
