Hey Saucy Friends! We’re on the cusp of the most wonderful time of the year. We’re here to give you our tips and tricks to stay saucy and sane over the next few weeks. It all starts with Thanksgiving, and we simply cannot wait!
Thanksgiving is amazing: football, quality time with family and friends and of tons of food. We’re all about enjoying the day-- but to us, that also means to not go overboard so we don’t slip into a food coma before dessert. We have a few ideas for you to incorporate into your day to ensure you feel your best:
1. Stay hydrated: we all know that we should be drinking more water, but how much is the right amount? According to the Mayo Clinic, the benchmark should be eight 8-ounce glasses of fluid. Of course, if you’re working out and sweating, you’ll likely increase that amount. Either way, drinking water or tea will set you up for success throughout the day and save you the day after if you’ve had too much alcohol to drink or food to eat.
2. MOVE: before and after you feast! Sign up for a Turkey Trot or organize a family walk or run during the morning of Thanksgiving. Breaking a sweat will help make room for the treats! Stretching or practicing yoga would also make for a fun group activity to get the gang together. Also, walking after you’ve digested dinner is a good way to prepare for dessert!
3. Eat the rainbow: break away from biege. If your plate is only filled up with turkey, mashed potatoes and stuffing, add some color! We suggest incorporating veggies like collards, green beans and salad to balance the meal.
